Is it true that we can experience hair loss with Creatine?
Muscles and hair loss. Can we have both? The fairest and most accurate answer to that popular question is yes. So, can creatine cause hair loss?
Let’s start with basic facts. Creatine is well-known to be a great help for your muscles producing energy during heavy-lifting or during a high – intensity exercise.

The only scientific piece that potentially connects creatine to hair loss, was a 2009 study published in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine.
The study included just 20 rugby players as they supplemented with creatine for just 3 weeks. Those in the study who took creatine took a whopping 25 grams a day (5 grams is the typical recommendation).
Creatine’s most common side effect is water retention. Other possible side effects include; muscle cramps, nausea, dizziness, stomach problems, dehydration, heat intolerance, dehydration, fever.
Ironically enough, the biggest sources for supplement and health research, do NOT list hair loss as one of creatine’s side effect.
Researchers reached the conclusion that Creatine MAY increase the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), but nowhere in this study it is mentioned that creatine can cause hair loss, or even link those two.
Facts are facts and experiences are experiences. Nobody can deny that fact, but it’s not considered wise to create a fact based on personal experiences we do not even know the whole background from.
